August has arrived in all its wonderful unpredictability. One day we’re enjoying breakfast in the garden, the next we’re reaching for a light jumper as the clouds roll in. That’s the beauty of a British summer – it keeps us guessing!
Whether you’re making the most of sunny afternoons, enjoying holidays at home, or simply appreciating the longer evenings, August is a wonderful reminder that our homes should be as adaptable as the seasons themselves.
Light, airy and welcoming when the sun shines, yet comfortable and cosy when the weather takes one of its familiar turns.

Looking Up – This Month’s Solar Eclipse
This month brings a fascinating reminder to look beyond our interiors for a moment. August’s solar eclipse is a wonderful excuse to pause, step outside (with the appropriate eye protection, of course!) and appreciate the beauty of the natural world.
At NPSF, we’re often inspired by the changing light throughout the day and throughout the seasons. It’s amazing how natural light transforms colours, textures and fabrics, giving every room a different personality from morning through to evening.
The eclipse reminds us that light isn’t just something that enters our homes – it’s something we should design around. Beautiful curtains, carefully chosen blinds and thoughtfully selected fabrics all help us enjoy those ever-changing moments while giving us comfort and privacy whenever we need them.

A Spectacular Evening on Plymouth Hoe
What a fantastic spectacle the British Firework Championships were once again.
Thousands gathered on Plymouth Hoe to enjoy two evenings of incredible displays, bringing our city together in celebration and reminding us just how special community events can be.
Watching the colours illuminate the night sky couldn’t help but make us think about colour inside our homes too. Much like a carefully designed interior, fireworks rely on contrast, balance and thoughtful layering to create something memorable.
Whilst we’re not suggesting a living room full of glittering explosions, introducing richer accent colours through cushions, upholstery or statement wallpaper can create just the right amount of drama.
Sometimes all it takes is one bold feature to transform an entire room.
Can’t Picture It? Let Us Show You

One of our favourite services continues to grow.
If you’ve fallen in love with a fabric or wallpaper but can’t quite imagine how it’ll look in your own room, simply send us a photograph of your space.
We’ll create a visual showing how your chosen fabric, wallpaper or blind could look within your home.
It’s a brilliant way to compare ideas before making a decision and helps take away much of the uncertainty that often comes with decorating.
Sometimes seeing really is believing.
Wallpaper Worth Looking At
Our online wallpaper shop continues to grow steadily, and we’re delighted by how many customers are discovering new favourites.
Our Beautiful Walls collection offers everything from elegant botanicals and classic florals to contemporary textures and timeless patterns.
Wallpaper continues to be one of the biggest interior trends of 2026, particularly when used creatively.
We’re seeing more people using wallpaper in unexpected places:
Behind open shelving
Inside alcoves
On chimney breasts
In downstairs cloakrooms
As a statement behind headboards
Small areas often create the biggest impact.
We’re also working behind the scenes to introduce even more carefully selected brands in the coming months.

Trend Watch – Relaxed, Layered Living
This summer’s biggest interiors trend isn’t about matching everything perfectly.
Instead, designers are creating homes that feel collected over time.
Think painterly florals sitting comfortably alongside woven plains.
Relaxed stripes paired with soft bouclés.
Natural linens mixed with tactile textures.
The result feels welcoming, lived-in and effortlessly elegant rather than overly styled.
It’s a look that works beautifully across country homes, coastal properties, contemporary spaces and even commercial interiors.
Good design has become less about following rules and more about creating homes with personality.

Seasonal Tip – Bring the Outside in
Late summer offers some of the year’s most beautiful natural colours.
Take inspiration from the landscape around you.
Soft sage greens.
Golden oat tones.
Warm terracottas.
Dusty blues.
These colours work beautifully together because nature has already done the hard work of combining them.
Introduce them through cushions, blinds, upholstery or wallpaper to create an interior that feels calm, timeless and connected to the season.

Looking Ahead
September always feels like the year’s second New Year.
Children return to school, routines settle back into place and many people begin turning their attention back to the home.
Next month we’ll be sharing ideas for creating warm, welcoming interiors ready for autumn, introducing more exciting products, and showcasing some of our latest projects.
If you’ve been thinking about refreshing your home, September is a wonderful time to begin.
Until Next Time ….
Whether you're browsing fabrics, planning your next project, exploring our wallpaper collection or simply looking for inspiration, we're always here to help.
Don't forget, if you've found a fabric or wallpaper you love, simply send us a photograph of your room and we'll show you just how beautiful it could look in your own home.
We can't wait to see what July inspires.
Warm wishes,
The NPSF Team
