Mission accomplished at the beautiful Langdon Court Manor!
Wowee! We’ve had a super busy December over at the stunning Langdon Court Manor, making sure they were all set for a comfy and cosy countryside Christmas.
As well as a luxurious flop top wall curtain and soft roman blinds, we made two automated Roman blinds with contrast ticking lining for the manor’s film room. These custom-made blinds can be operated using a remote control, making them incredibly convenient for those hard-to-reach areas. Alas, these were not fitted as the builders had not quite finished this room. However our Director, Niki, is very thankful she opted for automated blinds in her bay window, as it’s saved her trying to squeeze around her Christmas tree every time she wanted to open and close them!
To add the finishing touches, we delivered 33 bespoke and utterly gorgeous huggable scatter cushions, some with ruffles and fringes. Because when it comes to cushions, it’s all in the detail, right?!
It’s been an absolute pleasure to be involved in this exciting renovation project, and we can’t wait to start on the next Langdon Court Manor project in January.

Velvet curtains to swoon over!
We’ve been so busy lately that the days have been a bit of a blur. But one pair of beautiful curtains did hold our focus!
We fitted these exquisite velvet curtains we made using the gorgeous Ashley Wilde Heron fabric designed by the extraordinarily talented Sara Miller.
Don’t they look beautiful!
Keep the warmth in this winter!
We’re all looking for ways to save energy (and our pennies!) at the moment, aren’t we?
Well, a fabulous and cost-effective way to keep that warmth in is to invest in some thermal interlined curtains.
If you’re new to the idea of interlined curtains, you’re in for a treat! Not only do they minimise heat loss by trapping the air between the layers of fabric. You can also combine this with blackout lining to keep the light out. Ideal for those of you who like a dark room at bedtime!
Another great option to block those icy draughts is to hang a curtain over your external doorways. As well as being a great energy saver, door curtains are a stylish way to dress an entrance. In fact, they can become a feature in their own right!

What’s trending in 2023?
New Year, New Style
If you’re wondering what the new interior design trends are for 2023, let us fill you in….
Hideaway home offices
With more of us working from home, these cute hideaway workstations are becoming increasingly popular. We love the idea of remote-control blinds, so you don’t have to get out of your chair to adjust them whilst in a Zoom meeting. And, why not have one of our oh-so-comfy cushions to support your back? (Can you tell we have a thing for cushions?!)
Embellished curtain trims
Whether it be classic trims, fringes, pom poms or button-on pleats, this is a new trend we can definitely get on board with. We adore all things curtain trims here at Niki’s Soft Furnishings!
Plumped-up seating
2023 looks set to welcome a more relaxed seating style, combining comfort and practicality. Why not revive an old sofa or chair with a new seat, back inserts or even both? Fresh feather and foam inserts can give your furniture a new lease of life and increase that luscious plumpness as well.
The fabrics will be on our benches soon, so keep an eye on our Instagram feed and Facebook page to see the projects taking shape.
Little comfy low chairs such as the one above that we re-upholstered for the House of Hackney are becoming very popular too, you will see more of these next year.
Wickerwork
So, wicker is finally making a comeback! How about restoring and reviving your much-loved wickerwork sofa or chair with custom-made box cushions to make them super comfy?
The latest Pantone colour
No round-up of next year’s trends would be complete without mentioning the Pantone colour, would it? We get extremely excited about this announcement each year. So, 2023 brings us ‘Viva Magenta’, which according to Pantone, is a warm, vibrant, pink-red colour representing “optimistic celebration”.
Whilst fresh trends are great; we’d love for you to think about longevity and sustainability. Could you recycle your old furniture? Could you simply change your cushion covers to add a splash of colour to your decor?
Whichever option you choose, remember it needs to work for your home, and YOU need to love it!
If you’re thinking about a refresh for 2023, we’d love to help you with that.

Our Chosen Charity for January.
Next month, we’re proud to be supporting Shekinah.
Shekinah is a fantastic charity that provides opportunities for people experiencing all forms of homelessness and other challenges they may face.
2022 has been Shekinah’s 30th year, and over that time, they’ve helped many people work on their physical and mental health, supported people into their own homes and helped them gain skills which have enabled them to find employment.
If you’d like to join us in supporting this worthy charity, you can do so below.
