I’m sure you’re all excited like we are, that Spring is on the way!

Over the hard winter months, plenty of changes have been going on behind the scenes and we’ve taken the time to reconnect to our roots… meaning Niki’s Soft Furnishings has now evolved into the perfectly formed and compact NP Soft Furnishings! Although the name has changed, our ethos and attention to detail are still ever-present in everything we do.

Isn’t it uplifting to feel the warmer sunshine on our cheeks and see those first bunches of daffodils for sale, ready to brighten up a dull windowsill?

It definitely lifts your mood!

So, as we move into April with a fresh new look and name, we’re ready to shrug off the winter and welcome the warmer, longer days of spring. We’ve already noticed plenty of signs that the new season is finally on its way with pretty snowdrops and camellias in full bloom, and birds singing away in the treetops.

What’s been happening since we last spoke?

The earth may have slumbered during the winter, but at NP Soft Furnishings, we’ve been busy completing our autumn assignments.

Here’s a round-up of some of our recent projects…

House of Hackney

We’ve been lucky enough to have worked with House of Hackney for some time now and have recently collaborated with them on a luxurious headboard offering. We are particularly proud of this project as it hit all our eco beliefs by using FSC wood materials, British-sourced wool fillings and House of Hackneys eco credential fabrics.

This has gained us the much-coveted status of artisan creators on their website!

Over the past six months, we’ve collaborated with the House of Hackney on several other projects, including the full completion of some stunning tented rooms as seen on their website and articles, click on the button below to find out more.

We’ve also recently been commissioned to design a house in Plymouth with a recommendation from the previous owners!

This minimal house is a total contrast to the House of Hackney but has been equally fun to work on. The fabric is all very sleek lines and square edges, with a touch of glamour just poking through where required. This latest project is still very much a work in progress, but it’s been such an exciting one as we’ve been able to introduce a large amount of blind and curtain automation. In fact, at our first client meeting, I noticed an awful lot of window dressings to open and close during the day (as all the rooms are currently in use).

To alleviate the need to spend a good hour going around opening and closing curtains and Roman blinds, we introduced motorised curtain tracks and blind systems, which have made the customer very happy indeed!

We just love the inspiration and passion underpinning the House of Hackney brand and are particularly pleased that they not only use sustainable manufacturing processes but also create regenerative wallpapers.

We’re very much looking forward to working with them on more exciting projects in the future.

New soft furnishings in one of Boringdon Hall Hotel Spa's new wellness suites
We’re absolutely delighted with the results of the project at Gaia Spa at Boringdon Hall.

This gorgeous 16th-century country manor house hotel is set on the edge of Dartmoor, and it was such a stunning location to work in! We fitted the spa’s new suites with curtains, voiles and other accessories, as well as bespoke sofas and chairs. You can find out more about this project in Premier Hospitality, where they ran a feature on NP Soft Furnishings.

Boutique Hotel in Wembury, Plymouth

As part of working with Geraldine Apponyi we had the opportunity to create dressings for a reproduction French bed frame supplied by Apponyi Design.

The biggest challenge on this exciting project was working out how we’d accommodate the domed roof. But as you can see from the pictures, I think you’ll agree we succeeded on every level!

We really hope you’ve enjoyed seeing what’s been happening behind the scenes over the last few months, and we look forward to sharing more in our next newsletter.

Before we sign off, we’d like to take this opportunity to thank our wonderful clients for their patience while we completed our changeover to NP Soft Furnishings. Your support means such a lot to us.

It’s fantastic to be sharing our news with you again!
